RKYHS genetic engineering students attended a conference at the Waksman Institute at Rutgers University. The conference addressed DNA cloning of Landoltia punctata. Landoltia is a duckweed species important as a potential biofuel and bioremediator. The RKYHS students are participants in the Waksman Student Scholars Program and are now working on analyzing DNA they have isolated from their Landoltia clones. Some of this year’s students’ work has recently been published in the NCBI database, the world wide repository of DNA sequences.
