For the past seven years, the Mitch Gross Basketball League has become a vehicle to perpetuate the legacy of Mitch Gross, a”h. The league focuses on teaching basketball fundamentals to players at all levels, and the value of working together as a team. The league is an enthusiastic and affordable program open to residents of Bergen County including Bergenfield, Englewood, Fair Lawn, New Milford, Teaneck, Tenafly and other surrounding Bergen County towns, and also includes participants from Passaic County, Manhattan, Riverdale and Rockland County, New York.
MGBL has earned a reputation as a high-caliber recreational basketball program for Bergen County boys and girls in second through eighth grades and high school boys. Over the years many people have asked for, and now MGBL is embarking on, the next step: offering a league that Mitch Gross, a”h, would have been able to play in—the new MGBL Men’s league.
Like MGBL boys and girls, the men’s league will have rosters, jerseys, certified officials and be played in local school gyms. Unlike the kid’s leagues, the men’s league will be bring-your-own team. Your squad can be a bunch of guys from shul, work, college buddies or even perfect strangers. The only requirements to participate are a desire to play, and participants must be over twenty-five years of age.
The season will start after Pesach on a first come, first served basis. So get your teams together and reach out to us at [email protected] to reserve your spot. If you do not have a team or want to form a team, let us know and we will gladly add you to an already existing team. Like all other MGBL leagues, after general expenses, all profits of the league will be donated to local charitable organizations in memory of Mitch Gross a”h.
