Yom Ha’atzmaut in BPY—the closest place and heart to Eretz Yisrael in the galut. As proud Jews students started the day with tefillat Hallel and dancing. The ruach and energy of the students, teachers and shlichim dancing and celebrating the big zechut of having Medinat Yisrael was felt all over the building. Students experienced being in the army base, kibbutz, visited the shuk in Yerushalayim; sitting on the beach in Tel Aviv and eating watermelon; baking pitas in Angel’s bakery; and took a beautiful tour in the old city of Tzfat.
In middle school, students experienced Shvil Yisrael, a journey from the north to the south; a day in a kibbutz making batter, baking pitas and building tents; navigation training and Masa Kumta in Tzahal.
And how can they end the day without Israeli food such as shoko b’sakit (chocolate milk in a bag) and rugelach? Students from early childhood through middle school performed amazing daglanut displays. Seeing students dancing with the Israeli flags, living the dream of Herzel אם תרצו אין זו אגדה is a highlight of the school year.
ארץ ישראל היא הבית שלנו ובעזרת ה׳ נזכה כולנו לגור בארץ ישראל בירושלים הבנויה!
The day brought such a beautiful Israeli environment with unparalleled ruach to BPY. A big thank you to the amazing shlichim and JS staff for bringing the spirit of Am Yisrael and Eretz Yisrael to BPY!
