(Bruriah Sports) After an incredible 16-1 victory on Thursday in the first round of the playoffs, The Bruriah Lightning softball team is headed to the second round of the playoffs! Facing off against their formidable opposing team from Shulamith Long Island, the Lighting were down 1-0 after the first inning. Then, at the top of the second, the momentum began to shift after a knockout single by freshman Talia Braun, after which the Bruriah team went on to score five more runs in the second. “It just kept on going from there” recalled captain and junior Shana Markowitz, as she recounted some incredible hits by senior Atalia Levy, senior Zahava Moskowitz, junior Aliza Hook and, of course, the top-notch pitching by sophomore Orli Spierer. After this amazing display of athleticism and teamwork, the Bruriah Lighting is eagerly anticipating their upcoming match against Frisch in the second round of the playoffs. “We love to play together, we’ve really become a family,” continued Markowitz. “We look forward to continuing to play hard and give it our all!”
