(Courtesy of Bris Avrohom) This past weekend the 14th National Russian Shabbaton was held in the Mountain Laurel Resort. Over 800 people participated, with Bris Avrohom bringing a large contingent.
Attendees were greatly inspired by the lectures and speakers, and more than 60 topics were addressed. The guests were enlightened with the knowledge and understanding acquired, which in turn added to their appreciation and love of Torah and mitzvot. In general, the shabbaton gives people an opportunity to spend an entire Shabbos in an environment of holiness and spirituality.
Bris Avrohom noted the staff’s impact on the success of the program. Rabbi Boruch Lepkivker, program director of Bris Avrohom, is a member of the program committee of the shabbaton. He worked tirelessly on the itinerary, lectures and speakers.
Among the speakers at the weekend, Rabbi Mordechai Kanelsky of Bris Avrohom spoke about “the Universal Remedy,” how a 3,000-year-old practice resolves our present-day tribulations. Rebbetzin Shterney Kanelsky spoke about “the astounding shadchan who made 900 matches” and the Heavenly blessings that are bestowed through the chuppah.
On Saturday night there was a delightful concert and melave malka meal. Sunday featured a grand luncheon with Rabbi YY Jacobson as the keynote speaker.
People left the shabbaton very inspired and appreciative of the opportunity to spend an entire Shabbos in an uplifting and joyous atmosphere. The delicious food was catered by Nesher Catering, overseen by David Scharf, board member and former president of Bris Avrohom.
