Rinat Yisrael to Host Shuli Taubes of SAR
On Shabbat, March 12, Cong. Rinat Yisrael Adult Education welcomes Mrs. Shuli Taubes of SAR High School as a scholar in residence. She will deliver the Shabbat morning drasha after the 9 a.m. minyan. She will speak on “Nehama Leibowitz: The Master Teacher and Her Text” at 4:25 p.m. Shabbat afternoon and will address “Close Encounters of the Theological Kind: The Jewish Perspective on Other Religions” after Shabbat mincha (5:25 p.m.).
Mrs. Shuli Taubes, a native of Teaneck, received her masters in divinity from Harvard Divinity School and her BA in history from Barnard College. She currently serves as a faculty member at SAR High School in Riverdale, New York, where she teaches Tanach and Jewish Identity, and chairs the Jewish philosophy department. She has also developed and teaches a curriculum for educating Modern Orthodox high school students in comparative religion. This year, she is a community scholar at the Young Israel of North Riverdale where she gives shiurim and serves in a pastoral role. She also lectures in synagogues throughout the country.
Rav Daniel Hartstein to Head Camp Mesorah’s Beit Midrash
Rav Daniel Hartstein has been named director of BMP and Rosh Beit Midrash for summer 2016. He is currently rebbe and director of finance at Yeshivat Lev HaTorah in Ramat Beit Shemesh, Israel. In addition, he is a scholar in residence for Eddie’s Kosher Travel and has been trip director for the JWRP, which brings hundreds of unaffiliated Jews to Israel.
