JFS of Middlesex County Receives Retired and Senior Volunteer Program Grant

The Corporation of National and Community Services recently awarded the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) grant to Jewish Family Services of Middlesex County (JFS). RSVP is America’s largest volunteer network for people ages 55 and older.

RSVP of Middlesex County identifies volunteers and volunteer opportunities in the county and makes a careful connection. Numerous RSVP volunteer opportunities are available throughout Middlesex County. Each volunteer opportunity is different, requiring different skills, level of commitment and training. Volunteers can choose where to serve, when to serve, how much time they want to serve, and whether to share their skills or develop new ones. The three major programming areas for volunteer opportunities are: Senior Services, Food Services and Career Services.

JFS serves as the clearing house/coordinating agency for RSVP in Middlesex County. JFS works with agencies to learn about their specific needs and assign appropriate volunteers to the participating agency.

Sara Levine, Executive Director of JFS of Middlesex County, said “RSVP allows JFS and the community to work together by pairing volunteers age 55 and older with a wide range of volunteer opportunities.”

Phyllis Freed, Volunteer Coordinator of RSVP of Middlesex County, is dedicated to finding the perfect match for each volunteer.
