In honor of my upcoming bat mitzvah I decided that I wanted to do a meaningful chesed project. After thinking about different plans and ideas, I decided that I would like to collect accessories to be donated to girls who are less fortunate than us. It is so nice that people donate necessities like clothing to children in need, but I thought that girls would be extra happy to receive things like jewelry, scarves, hats, sunglasses etc. I know that I love to accessorize my outfits and thought it would be really special and exciting for girls and teens to receive fun accessories along with donated clothes.
I am choosing to donate the accessories that I collect to the girls at Bet Elazraki. Bet Elazraki is an Emunah Children’s Home in Netanya, Israel for children whose parents are unable to care for them. My family is planning a trip to Israel this summer in honor of my bat mitzvah, and I will be personally delivering the donated accessories to Bet Elazraki. I can’t wait to see the smiles on the girls’ faces when they receive packages of new jewelry, hats and other fun accessories!
I have also written to some companies and stores, and hope to receive some generous donations from them that I can bring to Israel as well. I have a box on the porch of my house at 277 Warwick Ave. Please feel free to drop off any new or slightly used accessories that you would like to donate. Thank you so much and I am sure the girls would love whatever you have to donate!
