Ma’ayanot Hockey played their first game last night against SKA with new coaches Aharon Goldwasser and Ma’ayanot alum, Danielle Wietschner. The young team with only two seniors proved to be ready for SKA. The first period, started off evenly. Then, Sophomore, Lily Polonetsky had a shot at the 8:30 mark. Sophomores Rebecca Malech and Jolie Levart added to the Rapids scoreboard, with 2 goals from Malech and 1 from Levart, assisting one another. Polonetsky helped Malech knock in her second goal at the 2 minute mark.
The second period appeared to start off more even than the first had ended, but Malech knocked in her third from Levart at 4:20. Freshman Chaya Ross scored the first goal of her high school career with 12 seconds left, from freshman Eden Schecter. Goalie Kayla Kalb had another shut-out this period.
Finally, Period 3 proved successful for more new players. Freshman Lily Fuchs knocked in her first goal at the 11 minute mark from Malech’s assist. Levart shot her second goal of the night with one minute left. The Rapids won by a final score 8-0.http://www.jewishyouthhockey.com
