Jewish Genealogical Society Of NY Plans May 15 Program

The Jewish Genealogical Society of New York invites members of the public to their next program, featuring three members of the executive council, who will each present a case study that demonstrates how they solved a genealogical research problem. The program will be held Sunday, May 15, on Zoom. There will be an open discussion at 1:30 p.m.; the formal meeting will begin at 2 p.m.

Joy Kestenbaum will show how she was able to identify a great-great-aunt, who died almost 150 years ago, by researching collateral relatives in American and Galician records and using indirect evidence. Lauren Shulsky Orenstein will speak about her search for a connection between two families from Lithuania with the same unusual surname. Lynn Diamond will show how she connected three branches of her tree in the United States and Israel, all descending from her second great-grandfather from Dubrowna (now in Belarus).
