On Wednesday March 30, new champions were crowned in TABC Junior Hockey. In the junior division, the Cobras owned the Storm winning 4-0. They gained 2 goals from Judah Greenberger and 1 apiece from Doniel
Fleischman and Ryan Brandwein.
Each time the Storm mounted an attack, Cobras goalie Adam Farbowitz denied all attempts on his way to the shutout and playoff MVP.
Regular season awards were handed out after the game.
Regular season MVP: Eli Knapp
Breakout Player: Noam Becker
Most Improved Player: Ezra Barishansky
Sportsmanship/Team player: Alex Scharf
Coach of the year: Eitan Schneier
In the senior division, the Lions and Ravens were scoreless until the middle of the second period, when Sammy Penn lit the lamp scoring a beautiful goal off a nifty feed from Shlomo Gellman. Gellman scored just 30 seconds later, and 30 seconds after that Yaakov Saks cleaned up a rebound in front to extend the lead to 3-0. After a timeout, the Ravens regained their composure and goalie Zach Feur shut the door the rest of the way. But it was a little too late because Lions goalie Ben Zion Fiorino was a wall, thwarting Eliot Eisner and the rest of the Ravens repeatedly. Fiorino was named playoff MVP; it was a stunning last couple of years for Ben Zion as he was the winning goalie in five of the last six seasons’ championships. Offensemen will be glad to see him graduate to high school.
