Gotham Burger Sportstar of the Week Rami Rozehzadeh

The Jewish Link of New Jersey and Gotham Burger would like to recognize 10-year-old Rami Rozehzadeh as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. Last month, Rami and the West Orange Cobras pulled off the unthinkable, defeating the Gregory Eagles in the 4th/5th grade championship game. During the game Rami set a league record, scoring a whopping 50 points, and his brother Reuven dominated the offensive boards.

Rami, wow that was quite a game!

Who is your role model?

My role model is my father Dr. Joseph Rozehzadeh because he escaped from Iran when he was 12 and he only likes to win.

Who is your favorite professional athlete?

Stephen Curry because I shoot and score like him.

What is your pre-game routine?

Before every game I do 20 righty lay ups and 20 lefty lay ups and if I miss one I start all over.

What is your favorite sports memory?

On Sunday March 20, 2016 when I helped my team win the championships game vs. the Gregory Eagles. We went to double overtime and I scored 50 out of the 59 points for my team. During the game my heart was beating harder than it ever has. The excitement of the crowd was crazy.

What is your funniest sports memory?

When I made a bet with my father in a soccer championship game that he would buy me an expensive pair of shoes that I had wanted. I scored 3 goals and we won.

What is your favorite thing to do while not playing sports?

Thinking about playing sports, because sports is all I do.

What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?

My favorite part of being a sports star is that it shows my leadership. I enjoy it and I’m good at it.
