Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

In the spirit of Lag B’Omer, MDS students in grades one through eight visited Randall’s Island! For many of the students, this was the first field trip of the year and the excitement was palpable! With packed lunches, hats, sunscreen and MDS T-shirts, students boarded the buses for an exciting day. Students enjoyed the outdoors, sports games and camaraderie. Everyone loved this day of recreation and fun, together with their friends, morahs, teachers and rebbeim. Reveling in MDS school spirit and sense of community was a very special way to celebrate Lag B’Omer.

For middle school, the fun continued at the eagerly anticipated student-teacher basketball game. Eighth grade students play against their teachers in a competitive and exhilarating game. New teachers and 30-year veterans all made an appearance in this exciting competition. Both students and teachers put up a fair fight but ultimately the teachers won both games.

In early childhood, students gathered together for a kumzitz around a “bonfire” with Maestro Nathaniel Ribner and sang songs related to the themes of the day such as “v’ahavta l’reacha kamocha.” Morah Shani dressed up as Rabbi Akiva and related the meaningful story of the Torah he learned and taught. The EC students had a picnic and made S’mores. MDS had a great day celebrating together!
