Battle of the Bagels at Shomrei Torah

Judges and event hosts with tasty bagels.

(Courtesy of Shomrei Torah) On August 27, the NATEP (Naftali Aron Torah Enrichment Program) of Shomrei Torah in Fair Lawn, hosted the Battle of the Bagels culminating in an intense culinary competition that saw Fair Lawn’s kosher hot bagels emerge as the undisputed champion. This gastronomic showdown brought together local shul bagel connoisseurs and enthusiasts to determine whose bagel would reign supreme. Fair Lawn’s bagel, crafted with meticulous attention to detail, achieved a harmonious blend of crispy exterior and soft, chewy interior and won by a landslide.

Judges and spectators alike were captivated not only by the competition but by the shiur on hamotzi that followed, given by Rabbi Andrew Markowitz. This victory not only celebrated the Torah the NATEP program produces Monday-Friday, but also solidified Fair Lawn’s reputation as the ultimate destination for bagel aficionados.
