Bruriah Tenth Graders Establish Chaburah

Have you ever thought of learning Torah about learning Torah?

Bruriah recently welcomed a new initiative called Chabura. It all started when tenth graders Rachelli Benoff of Passaic and Shaina Levin of Bergenfield were learning together earlier this year and realized that other students from every grade could benefit from and enjoy the opportunity of learning b’chavruta.

Initially, Chabura consisted of a handful of students learning The Attainment of Torah by Rav

Shimshon Pincus l’iluy nishmat Ezra Schwartz and Byla bas Mordechai.

Each week another teacher is invited to contribute to Chabura’s lively discussions. In addition to the core learning of this engaging sefer, each Chabura meeting begins with a discussion on varied, pertinent topics such as tefillah.

The size of the Chabura group has expanded greatly since its inception. The most impressive part

of Chabura is that it is completely optional; the girls who participate do so solely because they want to learn and grow.

“The Attainment of Torah enhances our relationship with Hashem and broadens our perspective on learning Torah. Chabura has given us the opportunity to learn from a sefer relevant to our lives in a way that leads to engaging discussions with teachers and friends.”
