Heichal HaTorah Experiences American History

Heichal HaTorah’s ninth-grade class traveled to Camden, New Jersey to visit the historic USS New Jersey at the Battleship Museum and Memorial. The talmidim received an interactive tour of the most decorated battleship to have served in the U.S. Navy, and one of the largest. Following morning shiur, the talmidim stopped at Top Golf in Edison, for outdoor fun before heading to the museum. The museum, launched in 1942, is a tribute to the many soldiers who served during the battleship’s distinguished career, and adorns the beautiful Camden waterfront. The students explored the many rooms and climbed up and down the original ladders, gaining an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of officers and crew members on board. The engaging and eye-opening experience gave the students a close-up overview of the nation’s military history and a newfound appreciation for a piece of American history. The talmidim returned to yeshiva after a memorable educational experience with a better understanding of the sacrifices made by military personnel in battle.
