Dr. Zalman Berger, a renowned scientist and grandfather of a YBH student, showed the second grade boys a rare phenomenon known as the transit of Mercury, the movement of the planet as it passes between Earth and the Sun. They were able to see this unusual event—that occurs only once every ten or more years—through two high powered telescopes Dr. Berger set up in his backyard.
