I would like to congratulate you for adding a great new column about chess (“The Link’s Gambit”). I have been reading chess articles and magazines for over 50 years and I found Ethan Feder’s article “Zugzwang” in your Jan. 19, 2023 issue to be superb. Many problem-solving articles in chess journals and newspapers are hard to follow and thereby do not really teach much. Mr. Feder not only wrote a seemingly simple column as one of the first in his series but managed to educate and entertain at the same time. I hope he can continue to give us such enjoyable reading, both for the beginner and expert chess players.
