Frisch Engineering Students Win Award at CIJE Engineering Symposium

Frisch sent more than 120 young engineers to participate in last week’s Engineering Symposium sponsored by the Center for Initiatives in Jewish Education (CIJE), which was hosted by HAFTR. The students demonstrated their working prototypes—combining electrical, mechanical, and bio-medical engineering, coding, and 3D printing with a real-world tikkun olam application—to teachers, students and a panel of expert judges.

Aliza Sperber, Ayden Shankman and Zachary Sklar won second place among more than 350 projects showcased. Their project was a working prototype of the G.R.A.B., Gyro Robotic Arm Biometric, an inexpensive alternative to other prosthetics, which allows the user to manipulate objects using a wireless sensor embedded in their glasses.

“Frisch had the biggest contingent of students at the event, and it was amazing to look out on the crowd and see the ‘sea of red’ presenting the Cougar color,” said Mrs. Rifkie Silverman, chair of engineering at Frisch. “I am so proud of all my students for their diligence throughout the year, which enables them to showcase their hard work to much acclaim at events like this symposium.”
