Through the tireless efforts of the entire WTA team, but with special mention for Associate Head of School Nellie Harris, WTA’s Montessori Early Childhood Program is expanding! Last year, the program opened a single classroom to start the 2-year-old’s program, and this year that program has doubled in size! Moreover, WTA’s early childhood program now has a new home in the brand new lower level, created with the Montessori philosophy and method in mind. Every classroom is specially designed to support and enhance the Montessori way.
Now with two classes of 2-year-olds, the program is thriving in this new environment, focusing on the educational approach of teaching practical life skills. Where other programs serve children their snacks, these students are already learning to prepare their own. Not only do they prepare their snacks, they’re also learning how to clean up afterwards! Where else do kindergarteners eat on glass plates and do the dishes when they’re finished?
