JKHA marked Tu B’Shevat with opportunities for brachot, celebrating the trees and enjoying many themed treats. JKHA lower school students held Bracha Bees in their classes last week. The winners of each class gathered on the stage of the Epstein Stein Auditorium on Tu B’Shevat for a division-wide Tu B’Shevat Bracha Bee! Students throughout the division have been studying their brachot for weeks and in addition to those competing on stage, all students in the audience had a chance to compete at the same time in a division-wide Kahoot with the top scorer selected as a winner alongside the winner on stage. Students have been learning all about trees and their role here and in Israel leading up to Tu B’Shevat and several lower school classes also collected to be able to plant trees in Israel through JNF.
Middle school students rolled out their Bracha Bee program on Tu B’Shevat. The hallways filled up with “Instabracha” sheets that display photos of students making brachot, and students challenged friends to do the same. The program will culminate in a middle school-wide Bracha Bee later this month. All JKHA students were excited to visit the Tu B’Shevat Shuk set up in the Jocheved Orbach Dining Hall, featuring the shivat haminim and other treats that was presented by the JKHA/RKYHS bnot sherut Noam and Reut.
