The entire Tenafly Chabad Academy celebrated Tu B’Shevat, the new year for trees. Tu B’Shevat marks the season in which the earliest blooming trees in Israel are beginning a new fruit bearing cycle. To celebrate, all middle school students planted beautiful succulent plants and also got to try new fruits and make a “shehecheyanu.” They tried figs, dates, carob and olives. Eighth graders had a special seder for Tu B’Shevat with many fruits from Israel.

Lower school students had a great time planting parsley seeds. They are looking forward to watching them grow and harvesting their parsley. They also ate special Tu B’Shevat treats and played a matching game with the symbols of Tu B’Shevat.

In addition all teachers were treated to a special Tu B’Shevat treat of nuts and dried fruits. Happy Tu B’Shevat!
