In Morah Chaya Glaser’s Ivrit classes, TABC students read and analyzed the story “Ma’aseh HaEz” by Shai Agnon. The students discussed similarities between details in the story and the Chumash, Chad Gadya in the Haggadah and more. After reading and discussing the story, which they received without the ending, the students were asked to write their own endings to the story as though they were the authors. After the students read their endings to the story, Mrs. Glaser read them the real one, and shared which students were closest with their versions. The purpose of the exercise was to develop the students’ reading comprehension, writing, imagination and critical thinking skills, and the students were proud of their ability to write an ending to a story in Hebrew.
