Yavneh Youth League Report

The senior boys Rothenberg Law Firm Reds started their year off tough, with a few close calls but no wins. That was until Memorial Day weekend when they swept a double header and entered the playoffs as the last seed. On Monday night, they faced the CoolKippahs.com Cardinals, the 2 seed in a classic YYL playoff matchup. Posting 6 runs in the first inning, anchored by Jake Rothenberg’s 3-run homer, the Reds struck first. As they do, the Cardinals nipped away at the lead until it was tied after 6 innings. Both teams had opportunities to score after that, but it wasn’t until the eighth inning (the second extra inning) that the Reds were able to secure the win. A great game, reported by coaches and umps alike. In the words of the Cardinals coach Alon Stempel, “ [I] couldn’t ask for a better loss.”

The Reds move on to the semifinals to face the winner of the the Noodle.com Mets vs. the Paul Family Phillies.

When two junior boys teams met once before this season, the BeLeadDo.com Braves edged out the Campmor Cubs. This time was different. Pouring on the offense behind the coaching of Avi Holczer and Aryeh Brenenson, Campmor held off the resilient BeLeadDo.com for a 15-9 win.
