From 1992 until my retirement in 2001, I commanded a team of fellow U.S. Army colonels.

Some of us old, gray-haired colonels have kept in touch over these 20+ years.

With the recent tzoris in Israel, three of these salt-of-the-earth, middle-American, Christian friends reached out to me—one via email, and two via lengthy phone
conversations, expressing their concern and letting me know that Israel and the Jewish people are in their prayers.

After I read the email and put down the phone at the end of the phone conversations, I took a deep breath. This is, indeed, the Goldeneh Medina – the people make it so.
