JKHA Shows Patriotism on Election Day and Veterans Day

After learning about Election Day, second graders were so excited to finally be voting! Each child filled out a voter registration card with their information and brought it to the registration table, then the polling table where their card was checked. In the private voting “booth” they filled out the ballot, voting on which “Miss Nelson” book they enjoyed reading the most. Once all the votes were cast, they read each vote and tallied them on a tally graph and then made a bar graph. The students then “became” their vote as they placed themselves onto a human graph.

To mark Veterans Day, JKHA lower school welcomed JKHA parent Charlie Larkin who spoke about his time serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. Students asked many, many questions and enjoyed hearing about the army, his experience, how he celebrated Jewish holidays while stationed overseas and more, on this day to honor those who protect our freedom.
