(BGFF) Under gorgeous blue skies and unseasonably warm temperatures, the Bergen County Girls Flag Football League concluded its fall season at Hackensack High School with three great championship games and two consolation games.

In the 2/3 division the 49ers and Jets who battled back and forth all season played a great championship game. This is what the pros might call an instant classic. Both teams were laser focused on defense with the Jets emerging victorious 6-0. Rifka Samuel was the game’s MVP scoring the only touchdown for the victorious Jets and landing some outstanding  flag pulls on defense. A third grader from Yeshivat Noam, Rifka plays way above her age level and we look forward to many more seasons with her participation in BGFF!

In the 4/5 division, the first seeded Raiders hosted the second seeded Ravens and another defensive battle was in the cards. The Raiders managed to squeak by 8-6, holding off several Raven scoring threats. The Raiders’ two point conversion was the difference maker. Noa Schwartz of Yeshivat Noam and Emmy Glatt from Yeshivat He’Atid were among the dominant players for the Ravens this season.

In the 6/8 division, the first seeded and undefeated Bills, hosted the third seeded Lions and they didn’t let up on their outstanding defense which helped them coast in almost every game they played this season. The final score was 26-0. The Bills did not allow any points after week two. Tali Sladowsky and Liana Sulimanoff from Yeshivat Noam helped lead the Bills to the first place finish with their consistent play all season on both sides of the ball.
