On Motzei Shabbat, WTA celebrated a beloved annual tradition: the PJ Melava Malka. The moment three stars came out, early childhood families put on their coziest pajamas and made their way to school. This fun yearly event looks different every time, but each year kids come in for projects, songs and a special story. This year, children participated in special Havdala activities, such as making “spice boxes” from clementines and cloves for besamim. Since some families use fragrant herbs for their traditional besamim, students also had a fun matching game wherein they learned how to identify different culinary herbs like sage, mint, thyme and more!
After the classroom activities, everyone joined together for Havdala with Rabbi Avi, followed by the most amazing story. Many people are familiar with the classic Hebrew children’s book, “Tiras Cham,” but WTA students were treated to a live performance of the story featuring all their favorite teachers and administrators, after which everyone enjoyed their very own tiras cham—freshly boiled corn on the cob. What a fun way to end Shabbat!
