(Courtesy of Bris Avrohom) As Bris Avrohom celebrated Chanukah by lighting 140 menorahs throughout the state of New Jersey, the executive director of the Port Authority lit the menorah at the Oculus on the eve of Chanukah. Rick Cotton stood before the nine-foot menorah and expressed his gratitude and solidarity with displaying the menorah. He elaborated on the message of Chanukah, how the lights bring people together and publicize the miracles that occurred. He also expressed his appreciation to Rabbi Mordechai Kanelsky, executive director of Bris Avrohom, for placing menorahs at close to 50 locations under the jurisdiction of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Rabbi Kanelsky presented Cotton with an ornate dreidel from Jerusalem, on which is inscribed נס גדול היה פה, “A great miracle took place here,” referring to Jerusalem.

Clarelle DeGraffe, director of PATH, articulated how proud she is to have four menorahs placed in locations under her jurisdiction at the World Trade Center, Journal Square, Hoboken and, new for this year, Harrison.
