The Jewish Link and The Humble Toast would like to recognize Renée Gershuni as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The senior at Yeshivat Frisch is a key contributor to the school’s girl’s ice hockey team. Renée just assisted her team in two wins this past week.

Renée, congrats on the wins and on being recognized as this week’s Sportstar of the Week! Who are your role models and why?

My parents, because they have a balance for community, family and work.

What is your favorite sport?

Ice hockey.

What is your pregame routine?

Listening to a hype playlist.

What is your greatest sports accomplishment?

Assisting four goals in one game.

Who is your favorite athlete and why?

Zach Hyman, a proud Jewish athlete, because he went to a Jewish high school just like me. This gives me hope that one day I could be a great athlete just like him.

What is your earliest sports memory?

Going with my dad to my first baseball game.

What is your favorite thing to do when you are not playing sports?

Hangout with my friends.

What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?

Having my team there to support me through the wins and losses.
