This year’s highly anticipated SAR HS Sting Night finally arrived on Thursday night. The week leading up to it was full of excitement, with Guess the Athlete quizzes on the school TV screens and daily schoolwide T-shirt launches up to all levels of the tower after Mincha.
On the big day, the entire students and faculty alike wore their new Sting shirts (shoutout to the sophomore Mac-a-Bee team for the very cool design!) as well as other SAR swag. To kick off the evening, students gathered outside for a tailgate party featuring cotton candy, popcorn, hotdogs, hamburgers, soda and homemade lollipops. Over $500 was raised from the food sales and was donated in support of Israel.
The tailgate was followed by a varsity girls’ basketball game against the high school female faculty. It was great to see the camaraderie between the students and teachers both on and off the court.
Following the game, students were ushered into the auditorium for a pep rally, recognizing all of the winter athletic teams. Each team was introduced and celebrated by their peers.
Finally, the moment everyone was waiting for arrived. The crowd headed down to the gym to witness a great game as the boys’ varsity basketball team took on JEC. The game included stingo, the bee mascot, more T-shirt flinging and a halftime knock out competition. The Sting finished strong with a 60-29 win over JEC.
“Sting night was hype,” said senior Sammy Teplitsky. “The school really had our back. Gotta love when the Hive is a’buzzin! It’s always great to end your last Sting night on a win! We can’t wait to see where this season takes us. Much love to the SAR community.”
Once again SAR’s student activities team delivered on the school’s most exciting night, making the entire event a very special bonding experience for the students and a chance to highlight their pride in their school. Let’s go Sting!
