In a dynamic and engaging learning experience, Tenafly Chabad Academy’s fifth-grade students are actively involved in the digital creative process of crafting comics. Following a comprehensive five-month journey through the captivating pages of “Front Desk” by Kelly Yang in a read-aloud format, these students are now channeling their newfound knowledge into artistic expression using technology.
The fifth graders used a new computer program, along with dialogue and scenes from the book, to construct meaningful and illustrative comics. This project not only showcases their technological and artistic talents, but also underscores the importance of literary comprehension and creative interpretation.
The art of comic creation serves as a powerful tool to reinforce the students’ understanding of the narrative while fostering their strength and creativity. Through this immersive project, they are deepening their connection to the themes explored in “Front Desk,” creating an enriching educational experience.
