Thank you so much for your article about Avi’s working at Trader Joe’s (“Meet Avi Tsadok: Valued Team Member at Trader Joe’s Paramus,” January 11, 2024). For those of your readers who may not have noticed from Avi’s picture, he has Down Syndrome, so it’s extra special that Avi is working and thriving at his job. Not only does Trader Joe’s value Avi as an employee, but Avi loves working there. (How many of us can say we love our jobs?!) He looks forward to his shifts and is so proud to don the Trader Joe’s shirts and especially his name tag with Avi Tsadok prominently displayed.
I would like to give thanks to Yachad whose job coach helped with Avi’s resume and arranged his interview. I’d also like to thank my friend Judy Spiegel who recommended Trader Joe’s as an ideal place to work when I mentioned to her that Avi was looking for a job. She said the store has a warm and welcoming atmosphere and she was right. It takes a village.
