In last week’s Letters to the Editor, someone by the name of Mark Rosenberg wrote about our 45th President Donald J. Trump (“Donald Trump, A Villain and a Racist,” January 25, 2024). He wrote that Trump lacked empathy, had a disregard for establishment norms, and a willingness to prioritize personal interests over the well-being of the nation.
I think Mr. Rosenberg must have been talking about Joe Biden. As far as empathy, Joe Biden has directly been responsible for migrants dying while trying to enter the U.S. illegally, either by drowning or being killed by smugglers when packed into trailers with no food or drink.
What about Mr. Biden’s empathy for the Black community, which he has ignored and continues to use as political puppets? Has he improved education and the standard of living in those communities? It’s been reported that due to Biden’s policies, they are poorer and not doing so well in school as before COVID, and that was with the Democrats’ having both the House and Senate in 2020-2022.
What kind of empathy has Mr. Biden shown for the middle class? Due to his policies, inflation went up dramatically. Remember, on Day 1 he opened the border and reversed many of Trump’s policies, including canceling the Keystone Pipeline, which drove up gas, which directly contributed to inflation. The only empathy he has is for his rich Democratic friends who say the biggest threat to our society is the climate.
Joe Biden pulled out of Afghanistan and took our soldiers out before taking out our U.S. citizens and those Afghans who helped the U.S.’ effort over the years, leaving state-of-the-art equipment worth millions for the Taliban to keep.
Where is Biden’s empathy towards people dying of drug overdoses because of the millions of illegal migrants bringing fentanyl into this country? What are establishment norms, according to Mr. Rosenberg? Are the norms such that politicians, their sons and brothers take money from foreign countries for doing no work and having zero skills while sitting on a board of directors? Are the norms going after politicians and trying to arrest them and to stop them from running for president? Are the norms having a president unable to string words of a single sentence together? Are the norms having a president tell us that we must have electric cars by a certain date when we know the grid won’t be able to handle it, yet in the interim wants to cut off the supply to oil and gas to drive the price up and hurt the American consumer? Is it the norm to say we have to eliminate gas stoves by a certain date?
When Mr. Rosenberg says Trump prioritizes his personal interests over the nation, that couldn’t be more of a correct statement about Mr. Biden. Please tell me how a person who was a senator for many years on a salary of less than $200,000 has so many luxury homes and millions of dollars in the bank, while his son and brother have taken in tens of millions from China and other countries.
Donald Trump has lost millions by being president but is taking the hit for the average American. If they can come after him, think about what the government can do to the typical American.
So now tell me: Whose policies helped our nation? Trump had other countries pay their fair share for NATO, and made our southern border as safe as can be. Trump realized China has been ripping us off for decades and he was the only president to take action against them with his tariffs. We currently have a president who seems to think China is our friend, has opened up our borders and created an environment where it’s a matter of time before a terrorist attack happens here (again). Due to his foreign policy, the world is in chaos: Russia invaded the Ukraine; he desperately wanted to appease Iran (you don’t appease a bully, you punch it in the mouth); and the war in Israel was enabled due to the fact that Biden reinstated aid to Hamas, emboldening them—and look what this has caused to our greatest ally in the Middle East. We are just sitting and waiting for China to retake Taiwan. Remember what Jamie Dimon said a couple of weeks ago: Trump was right with immigration, China policy, and how he grew the economy.
Let’s all remember, the president of the United States is not a role model (look at Kennedy, Clinton and many others) but the president is supposed to keep citizens safe, grow the economy, keep us militarily strong and stay out of wars because if you attack us or an ally, the U.S. will make sure you learn a lesson. We had a president who did all that, despite people trying to take him down, and now we have a guy as president whose former boss said, “Joe has a habit of screwing everything up.” Yes, Trump needs to clean up his act and delivery and the side shows, but think about what he can do if people are in his corner and let him “Make America Great Again.”
