On Monday, February 4th, Mr. Liam Machlin and Mr. Zachary Ottenstein’s history classes embarked on an exciting educational journey to Federal Hall and the National Museum of the American Indian in New York City. It was a day filled with learning, discovery and appreciation of our nation’s rich history and diverse cultures. At Federal Hall, located on Wall Street, students had the unique opportunity to step back in time and immerse themselves in the birthplace of American democracy. In this place, Congress first met and drafted the Bill of Rights. The students explored the historic building where George Washington took the oath of office as the first president of the United States and learned about the significance of this iconic landmark in shaping the nation’s history.
Afterward, the adventure continued at the National Museum of the American Indian, where students delved into the vibrant cultures, traditions and contributions of native peoples across the Americas. From intricate artifacts and captivating exhibits to interactive displays and immersive experiences, students gained a deeper understanding and appreciation for the rich cultural heritage of indigenous communities. Throughout the trip, students were engaged, curious and eager to learn, making the experience both educational and memorable.
