Frisch JV Girls Basketball Wins the Champs

(Frisch sports) Frisch JV girls basketball was coming off a successful 9-1 regular season record when they entered the championship game against SAR last Sunday at TABC. With only four returning sophomore players from last year’s JV team and 11 new freshmen players, the Frisch JV Cougars worked hard all season to get to the championship game. The championship win was up for grabs, as Frisch and SAR played two games in the regular season, each winning one and each losing one. It was anyone’s game.

Both teams started out really strong. Starters from Frisch Ally Weber, Gaby Hoffer, Tamar Feldman, Tali Fried and Erin Sheps began the game strong and determined to win. SAR player Alex Megence unfortunately sustained an injury in the first quarter and was unable to play for the rest of the game. We wish her a reufah shlema and a full recovery. SAR did not let up as freshman Liyora Marmar was fierce with her rebounds and the score was 6-6 at the end of the first quarter. But the Frisch girls came out very strong in the second quarter and outplayed SAR ending at halftime with a lead of 16-6. By the third quarter, Frisch had already built a respectable lead and refused to let the Sting take the lead or even catch up.

Sophomore big man Ally Weber was relentless with her interior defensive rebounds, blocks and assists. Sophomore point guard Gaby Hoffer showed off her talent and skill, handling the ball and driving to the basket to score, which earned her the MVP. Sophomore Tamar Feldman scored the opening basket of the game and stayed strong on defense. Blimi Farkas, sophomore, kept the ball moving during the game. Frisch freshman players Tali Fried and Erin Sheps had many great connections on their fast breaks and lay ups, racking up more points. Laya Rosenberg hit an amazing three pointer that got the crowd roaring. Riki Amos and Eden Citron were instrumental in taking lay ups and having blocks. Tiferet Ciner and Ariella Piontnica kept the pace of the game going. Ella Weinberger had many assists. Jordana Green and Ella Scharf kept the energy high as they played up and down the court. Noa Schulder had great ball movement on the court.  Every player on the team got playing time in the championship game, each girl getting a chance to show their skill and determination to win.

Over the season, thanks to coaches Jade and Nisa, the JV girls learned to play as a team, and that rendered a big role in their championship win— their third championship in a row. The game ended with a final score of 39-20 with a Frisch JV victory. Congratulations to the Frisch girls JV basketball team!
