The eighth grade at WTA is honing their ELA skills while simultaneously incorporating social studies into the unit about memoirs. Before writing their own, the students have an opportunity to study Elie Wiesel’s famous memoir, “Night.” Together, as a class, they will be reading the book and discussing both the historical and the literary aspects. As a prelude to the text of the memoir, the students are exploring the timeline of historical events, using a lesson from The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum as a framework. Among the first steps, the students were provided with slides representing different important dates throughout the story of “Night,” and asked to create a timeline of events.

Additionally, in the second week of the season, the WTA Warriors continued to dominate the soccer field. Coach Or led the girls’ team to their second win, and the boys’ team to their first, bringing their combined record so far to three wins and zero losses. Even with certain key players out due to illnesses, the Warriors continue their winning streak, while always keeping their middot in mind. Kol Hakavod to the Warriors! Keep up the good work!
