Naaleh’s sophomores traveled to Washington D.C. where they had an inspiring trip and the chance to truly make a difference for their community and for Israel. The trip started off with a visit to the Holocaust Museum, which helped frame the importance of Jewish people making their voices heard. After visiting several of the monuments in the National Mall where the girls reflected on freedom and what it means to them, they then had the privilege of hearing from Avi Eisen, an Israeli-American who was in Israel on October 7, and who then rejoined his unit to help fight. The following day, the students visited Capitol Hill and met members of the legislature to ask them to prioritize combating antisemitism and supporting the State of Israel through these challenging times. They also heard from Shanna Winters, chief policy advisor to the U.S. Senate Committee of Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. In this impactful talk, Winters spoke about being a religious woman on the Hill and the tremendously important mission that students were embarking on in lobbying for their community. The trip provided a pivotal learning opportunity, helping to shape the Naaleh students into advocates for change and champions for their beliefs.
