On Friday, Stamford’s Bi-Cultural Hebrew Academy of Connecticut hosted a presentation from IDF reservist and Class of 2015 BCHA graduate Nathan Haron, and Esther Marcus, a surviving resident of Alumim, one of the kibbutzim that was attacked on October 7. In a very sensitive and compelling manner, Esther told of her experience being in the kibbutz on that terrifying day. Nathan then spoke about his experience as a member of the Nachal Brigade, one of the Israel Defense Forces’ main infantry units, and about leadership in times of crisis. He also told the students that the money they raised at school and sent to Israel was used to provide waterproof boots to members of his unit. This illustrated a very moving connection between the students at BCHA and our soldiers in Gaza and on the northern border.
