The Purim spirit was palpable throughout every part of the Bruriah building since Rosh Chodesh Adar. With dress up days including Tichel Tuesday, Wheelie Wednesday, Sports Jersey Day and Dress-Up-As-a-Teacher day, the excitement built up towards Bruriah’s annual Purim chagiga. The students even enjoyed a surprise mariachi band playing their favorite Adar tunes.
Students arrived in costume at school last Thursday night ready for an incredible and leibidik night of Purim festivities. This year’s chagiga theme incorporated the elementary school Purim, as part of the G.O.’s yearlong theme of lifecycles. The program began with Mincha, chabura learning and divrei Torah, and a delicious break-fast in the gym. Then, DJ Eli got the music pumping which transformed the Bruriah gym into an epic glow-in-the-dark dance party well into the night. Students also had fun participating in a fantastic glow-in-the-dark ax throwing competition outside.
The night proved to be a terrific fusion of Purim simcha and Bruriah spirit, and students felt invigorated, excited and inspired to continue spreading the simcha of Purim.
