In honor of Election Day, The Moriah School kindergartners held their own election. The students had to decide between the two “candidates,” vanilla cookies or chocolate cookies. Each child registered and then voted in their very own voting booth. After all the votes had been cast, it was time to tally the votes. Using a line graph, they counted and tallied the votes. The students then used their newly learned mathematical concepts and terms, more, less and equal, to discuss the results. They were proud to announce that chocolate cookie won the majority of the votes (12 to 6). Each child then enjoyed the cookie “of the people.”
