The Jewish Link and The Humble Toast would like to recognize Adir Blumenthal as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The third grader at Yeshivat He’Atid loves all sports. His skills have been on display in the Bergen County Flag Football League and just joined the Teaneck Swim Team where he rocked his first swim meet. When asked about the 9-year-old, Bergen County Flag Football League Commissioner Steve Gutlove told The Jewish Link, “This spring will be Adir’s third season playing in the Bergen County Flag Football League, he came to the league with great raw talent, but it has been great to see his development over the years. This development is a testament to his work ethic and that of the volunteer coaches. The most impressive thing about Adir’s game is the level of sportsmanship that he brings to the field. Looking forward to continued excellence from him in the spring season starting this Sunday.”
Adir, congrats on being recognized as this week’s Sportstar of the Week! Who is your role model and why?
My father, because he loves that we play sports but he just wants us to have fun and he doesn’t care if we win or if we are the best.
What is your favorite sport?
Football, because I get to use my speed to help my team.
What is your pregame routine?
My mother asks me a million times if I’m hungry and if I have a water bottle.
What is your greatest sports accomplishment?
Winning first place in two races and second place in two races in my first swim meet with Teaneck Swim Academy.
Who is your favorite athlete and why?
Saquon Barkeley, because he is the best player on the Giants (answered before he was traded).
What is your earliest sports memory?
In my first BCFL game I got a handoff and ran the whole field for a touchdown.
What is your favorite thing to do when you are not playing sports?
Play with my friends and my sports cards.
What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?
Sharing the article with my family and people saying “I saw you in the Link!”
