When it comes to strength and unity, the JEC’s RTMA division is second to none. The brotherly concern and caring for one another is apparent every day and when an 11th grader from Passaic was diagnosed with a serious illness this year, the boys rallied around him like soldiers on a battlefield. The hashtag #ShuaStrong has become the battle cry for the division as they support the boy who inspires the students and who many consider to be a warrior, and several initiatives have already been launched to help him and others like Shua who are grappling with similar illnesses. Indeed, a major tzedakah drive to benefit Chai Lifeline in his merit is underway, and recently an anonymous donor generously gifted prime tickets to a Knicks basketball game for Shua and his friends. Like the RTMA mission reads, “Together we live AboveTheCode. Guided by the Torah, we passionately pursue excellence through engagement, reflection, and growth.” Indeed the warm unity and brotherly love apparent throughout the RTMA division and the various relationships that exist within it are among the reasons why the Rav Teitz Mesivta Academy is considered to be and is proud of being “AboveTheCode.”
