The greater New York City community and the Shefa School were filled with moments of natural wonder from the Earth. It began with an unexpected earthquake, followed by the eagerly anticipated solar eclipse. Before the eclipse, Shefa’s teachers took the initiative to educate their students on the scientific aspects of solar eclipses and the Jewish perspective on acknowledging such extraordinary occurrences and the associated special prayers. Coming together as a school and community to witness these events was an experience that all will cherish and remember.
