Middle School science at RPRY has many strands. Part of the learning includes an online textbook, note taking and investigations, many of which are hands on. However, what is probably the highlight for both seventh and eighth grade science classes are the weekly STEM activities known as Marvelous Mondays for eighth graders, and Wondrous Wednesdays for seventh graders. These projects which take one to three weeks to complete are generally partner or group activities which encourage cooperation and collaboration. The most recent Wondrous Wednesday project was to design and build a roller coaster made of nothing but cardstock and scotch tape. The students showed an amazing amount of creativity and perseverance as they made and tested their coasters. While some were immediately successful, others needed some tweaking to ensure that the marble rolled down the track did not stop or jump off. Their results were truly inspiring.
