Teaneck Teen Idol Arielle Pfefer to Sing at Teaneck Community Chorus Concert

Arielle Pfefer TTI 2024.

(Courtesy of Teaneck Community Chorus) It’s a special event to hear a Teaneck Teen Idol perform. The 2024 winner from the Frisch School, Arielle Pfefer, will sing a solo at a delightful Teaneck Community Chorus concert on Sunday, May 19.

“A Place at the Table” caps the chorus 25th Anniversary season with a concert celebrating humanity’s love of food through song. Food brings people together. So, the chorus will be singing musical flavors from around America and the world, from “New England Clambake” to “Rozhinkes mit Mandlen” and “Chile Con Carne.”

There are other special events at the concert in addition to Arielle’s performance: One of them is a joyous transition. The chorus will honor Steven Bell, who is retiring after 25 years of inspired and dynamic leadership as artistic director. He will “pass the baton” to the new artistic director, Teresa-Marie Gotanco, who has been the Teaneck Community Chorus’ accompanist for the past two years and has worked closely with Bell. Both have remarkable artistic vision for the unifying power of music.

Finally, there’s a Grand Finale and a reception afterwards. The chorus asks all former members to join it on stage and sing its signature song together: “A Place at the Table,” written by Teaneck resident, former teacher and singer Loren Daniels. It will be thrilling.

The chorus invites the audience for refreshments after the concert in the media center to congratulate Bell and welcome Gotanco.

Ticket prices: Adults $20; Seniors $15; Students $5.

Sunday, May 19, 3 p.m. Teaneck High School. Doors open at 2:30 p.m.
