Community Helpers Visit Teaneck Chabad Preschool

It is Community Helper week at Teaneck Chabad Preschool and many special visitors came in to share their professions and how they help in the community. One guest was Yossi Hollander from Cedar Market. Yossi explained to the children that he and all the “food people” wake up early while the children are still sleeping to deliver food to the store. They put the food on a special high-low machine and then put it on the shelves where parents can buy the food. He asked the children where they think produce comes from, then described how it comes from a farm where the farmers grow it and then prepare it to be shipped to the store. After a few days in the store, when the produce is not as fresh and may have spots on it, they take it off the shelf and restock with fresher produce. The old produce, depending on how the quality is, then either gets thrown out or given to people who need it. He also spoke about the other departments in Cedar Market and everyone’s favorite Cedar Market guy, Oscar. If ever you need help when you are at Cedar Market, just ask for Oscar. The children then discussed their favorite foods at Cedar Market and the most popular was cookies. One child asked how Cedar Market got its name. Yossi responded that they loved the neighborhood so much so that when they moved in on Cedar Lane they decided to name the store after the street. Thank you to Yossi for coming in; the children had so much fun.
