Eight J’lem Teens Indicted, Charged With Planning Terror Attacks

(Andrew Friedman/TPS) Eight teenagers from the Arab-majority Jerusalem neighborhoods of Tzur Baher and Issawiya were indicted Monday in the Jerusalem Juvenile Court on charges of planning to carry out crimes, rioting, attacking a police officer and other crimes. The suspects were not named because they are minors.

According to the indictment, between March and May 2015, when the accused were serving sentences in Megiddo Prison, they made plans to carry out terror attacks against Jews and to throw stones and Molotov cocktails at security forces after being released from prison. The group met in the prison library and discussed financing for the plans. During these meetings, one man is accused of suggesting the group save the payments from the Palestinian Prisoners Club after being released in order to purchase guns and shirts for the group. Members of the group agreed. In addition, several members of the group are accused of taking part in rioting and disturbances on the Temple Mount and calling for violence on Facebook.

Four of the men were accused of endangering human life on a public road, as well as additional charges after throwing stones in November 2013 at the entrance to the Armon Hanatziv section of Jerusalem. A 2-year-old girl was injured in the attack, and the men were sentenced to 22 months in prison.
