On Sunday evening, BPY hosted its annual Yom Hazikaron tekes. While the program is so meaningful and moving every year, this year it was especially poignant. The entire presentation, in front of a packed auditorium, was done by BPY middle school students and teachers, almost exclusively in Hebrew. The program highlighted heroes who saved the lives of others, and the choir sang songs composed by Israelis who suffered the loss of a son, father, and brother. Morah Hana Dahan, one of the school’s shlichim, spoke movingly about her cousin who gave his life during this war. The program ended with a tefillah for the safe return of the hostages and for the hope of a new generation that will be strong in its emunah.
On Monday, the Yom Hazikaron program for students was led by Rav Hananel and Morah Renana Niederland, one of the shlichim couples. The tekes focused on the Charavot Barzel and on the journey that the Jewish people in Eretz Yisrael and in the galut have had—including challenges, oppression, hope, emunah and geulah. Students and parents left with a sense of appreciation and inspiration for all that the fallen soldiers have given for Am Yisrael.
