As part of their curriculum on brachot, kindergarten teachers in The JEC Lower School’s Early Childhood Department employed all five senses to engage the children and help them remember the lesson in a fun and interactive manner. When it came time to learn the bracha of Borei Pri Hagafen, students were challenged to make their own grape juice by hand, recognize the color of the resulting juice, smell and taste it and, of course, recite the appropriate bracha. The children felt empowered and amazed that they had produced such delicious juice and were proud to bless something that they had helped create themselves.
